In a present charged with anxious futures, is the countdown to lift off or to self-destruct? Dystopia might be the closest narrative genre to today’s reality. Things around us can turn into potential explosive devices. Hundreds of still images shot from an observatory dome become a potential unidentified exploding saucer through the use of basic editing tools. While high technicity is inherent to science fiction films, in this work, images are individually hand-crafted following uneven patterns, enhancing an artisanal aesthetics: a tactical gesture that resists mainstream representations, a way to think with available material, and to reflect on our fragile presence and fallibility.
