In this series the artist assembles drawings and writings on a digital print of selected archival documents and photographs from the WWI period in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. Joreige then adds in her own handwriting, personal observations as well as translations of the included documents.
The Photographs and drawings are based on images selected from: The Imperial War Museum archive; Fouad Debbas Collection at Sursock Museum; the American University of Beirut/Library Archives and Special Collections; Saleh Turjman collection; Daou Family, and online sources. The documents are selected from Başkanlık Osmanlı Arşivi, Istanbul (Ottoman documents) and the Institute for Palestine Studies (Excerpt from the diary of Ihsan Turjman).
